Round trip: national park Doi Suthep

We really liked the Doi Suthep national park because you are in 30minutes drive from Chiang Mai in an amazing forest. How further up you gow how fresher the air gets! Can be great on a humid, hot day in Chiang Mai city.
We needed about 20minutes from the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple to the Hmong Village. Till here you would also come with a car.

The village is really touristy but nice located in the forest at a hillside. One shop after each other with souvenirs, clothes, food and other stuff. The garden by the waterfall is pretty nice and the open bungalows are great to relax a bit.
But really beautifull is the garden below the coffeeshop and Kings memorial. The road to there is just when you enter the village on the right side steep up the hill. It's great to enjoy the view with a good thai coffee!

Back on the road further up the hill you come to a viewpoint where you can spot on the Hmong Village and the suraounding mountais. Following the road witch gets more and more to a gravelroad with wholes and mud if there was rain in the past. But still totally relaxed with our Honda Click 125ccm Scooter. After another 20-30minutes driving we came to the campground. We just passed it and drove another 20minutes to the village witch i dont know the name and google maps either not. But its here.
We found a place to stay over night at a homestay. There is at the end of the village a small sign on the right side. It's a house with about 8 rooms, shared bathroom and a nice fireplace. We payed for the room 500Bath per night. They brought us firewood and we bought some chicken and other stuff in the shop for a BBQ.
Because of the scorpion in the bed i would bring next time a mosquito net. We also saw spiders, snakes which didn't looked sow friendly...

The next day a local told us that it's closer to Chiang Mai if we follow the road than if we go back the same way we come from. But the road is a bit dificult to drive he ment. We desided to try how far we come. The road is really bad. The furrows force you into a train again and again. I would not drive there if the road is to wet. But if you drive slowly and have good backbrackes it's makeabel. Soon the Lycheethrees appeared and we spent quite a while there...

Further down the mountain you come to two lakes and some 'restaurants' with bungalows by the water to enjoy some nice thaifood. The place there is called Huay Tueng Thao.

Out of this park you will find easy the way to the main road witch brings you back to Chiang Mai.
